Adoption & You....

Looking for an Adoption Counselor who can relate with you? Look no further. I  offer you a warm, caring, supportive environment and I can relate with you and your issues,
as I too am adopted.

Sometimes when a person is adopted, they feel a bit alone. They can feel left out and misunderstood with the rest of society. They wish everyone else understood how they feel about being adopted.

Whether or not you had a great upbringing, you may still have unanswered questions and concerns about your adoption. There are questions such as, Why did this happen to me? Or, who do I look and act like in my biological family?  Very common thoughts that individuals who have not been adopted, don't question.

When beginning a search of your biological history, you first will encounter the Non-Identifying Information from your local State or adoption agency of origin. If your State has not made it legal and easily accessible to learn of your biological history, you will only receive this type of information. Non-identifying information is exactly as it states, non-identifying...you will not receive information that identifies anyone or anything in detail that may give the whereabouts of certain people or places that are associated with your adoption.

To many, this seems unfair, and many States are trying desperately to overturn this law for every adopted person. Realize that these rules or laws, protect people, although, at the same time they keep adopted people from knowing who they are, where they come from and simply denies the right to personal information about an individual's birth/history. There are two sides to every story.  For some situations, laws that keep us from knowing who our biological family  is/was, keep us and THEM safe...sometimes, that is a good thing. In other situations, it prevents us, as legal, law abiding and deserving citizens to know who we are and to have access to information about our history, genetics, or other important things, that non-adopted individuals might take for granted.

For more information about the adoption laws in your state, Google: adoption laws in Colorado (or whichever state you are interested in).
